Species at Risk

The B.C. Conservation Data Centre has recorded sightings of Slimleaf onion (blue listed), Steller Sea Lion (blue listed), Graceful arrow-grass (red listed), Fleshy jaumea (blue listed), Chaffweed (blue listed), Slender popcornflower (red listed), California buttercup (red listed). White meconella (red listed), Peregrine Falcon, anatum subspecies (red listed), Spanish-clover (blue listed), Macrae's clover (blue listed), Banded cord-moss (blue listed), Two-edged water-starwort (blue listed), Scalepod (red listed), Purple sanicle (red listed), Small-flowered godetia (red listed), Northern adder's-tongue (blue listed) and Red-legged frog (blue listed) in the Saturna Island Local Trust Area.  There may be additional species at risk in the Saturna Island Local Trust Area that are not recorded with the B.C. Conservation Data Centre or whose locations are considered confidential information.

Forested Ecosystems

The Saturna Island Local Trust Area is in the Coastal Douglas-fir Zone.  More than 19 hectares of old forest ecosystems were found in the local trust area.  The breakdown of forests by age class is (note: this includes woodland sensitive ecosystems, so percentages will vary from the sensitive ecosystems section above):
