Species at Risk

The B.C. Conservation Data Centre has recorded sightings of Graceful Arrow-grass (red listed), Spanish-clover (blue listed), Manroot (red listed), Sharp-tailed snake (red listed) and Peregrine Falcon, anatum subspecies (red listed) in the South Pender Island Local Trust Area.  There may be additional species at risk in the South Pender Island Local Trust Area that are not recorded with the B.C. Conservation Data Centre or whose locations are considered confidential information.

Forested Ecosystems

The South Pender Island Local Trust Area is in the Coastal Douglas-fir Zone.  More than 16 hectares of old forest ecosystems were found in the local trust area.  The breakdown of forests by age class is (note: this includes woodland sensitive ecosystems, so percentages will vary from the sensitive ecosystems section above):
